Visiting the Academy for Communication in Freiburg

Today I had the pleasure of celebrating a very special premiere: my first official lecture about my book Normal Weight at the Academy for Communication in Freiburg.

In a 30-minute presentation to around 100 students and lecturers, I explained how my book came about – from the initial idea to the finished product. This included not only the core content, i.e., my personal motivation and the message behind "Normalgewicht" (Normal Weight), but also the creative process: the conception, the design, the production, and finally the marketing.

Precisely because it's a design school, it was a pleasure for me to be able to particularly emphasize this design aspect. A book is not just text – it's a complete work in which form and content interact.

The discussions afterwards particularly moved me. Just as with the 2024 exhibition, it became clear to me once again today how important it is to speak openly about this topic. Only in this way can misunderstandings be dispelled and greater awareness created!

It was an honor to give my first lecture at AFK , and it makes me want to do more. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming lectures.
