A campaign to destigmatize eating disorders.
Eating disorders are mental illnesses and not a question of weight. They affect people in a wide variety of bodies, age groups, and life situations. Nevertheless, the prejudice that one can always spot a person's eating disorder persists. We want to refute exactly this prejudice.
As part of this campaign, you will meet people who live with an eating disorder and share their story. They deliberately show themselves to make visible how diverse people with eating disorders are. Because eating disorders do not all look the same, and everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and taken seriously.
A huge thank you to all participants who have the courage to tell their story. You make this campaign possible!
PARTICIPATE
Would you like to be part of the campaign?
Send me an email to info.johannaelsen@web.de with:
- a current photo of yourself
- your first name
- your age
- your eating disorder type (AN, BN, BED,...)
- your Instagram (optional, if linking is desired)
- a text with your story and your reason for participating (max. 280 words)
Note: Regardless of how you look, how old you are, or what gender you identify with – you can participate. Even if you fit the typical image of an eating disorder, you are welcome to join. I want to make the diversity of ALL bodies visible. It is only important that the photo does not show too much skin, otherwise it may be restricted or blocked on social media platforms.
*Only persons who are at least 18 years old can participate.
After the submission deadline, I will make a selection to depict the diversity of people with eating disorders as visibly as possible. This selection is not a judgment of your illness or your person. If you are selected for the campaign, you will receive a user agreement for the public use of your information. Your contribution will only be published after your signed consent.
The campaign will initially be published via my social media channels. Depending on the response and development, there are plans to present it on other platforms or in other formats to reach as many people as possible.
By participating, you are making a statement against prejudice and for more awareness. You are helping to make visible what is still too often overlooked: you cannot weigh eating disorders. And you cannot always see them.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Liebe Lea,
